Imagine a World Where Nothing Breaks

Two years after the earthquake hit Nepal I spent ten days walking between the religious sites of the Kathmandu Valley.

Before the walk I spent five days sitting in silent solitary retreat in the mountains - contemplating a slogan to insert on the altars and in the rubble of the city.

It was a physically difficult time. My meditation was tormented by barking dogs and aggressive, thieving monkeys.

The slogan I wrote out in Nepali and English was “Imagine a world where nothing breaks”.

यस्तो संसार कल्पना गर्नुहोस् जहाँ केही पनि टुक्रिएको छैन।

This slogan was handwritten onto white scrolls and rolled up before being placed at sites of worship and loss.
